What is the syllabus of the blended learning First Aid at Work
The syllabus and course meet the requirements of the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) and the learners will cover the following topics during their e-learning time. Learners should expect to take approximately 6 hours to complete the following:
- What is first aid?
- Legislation
- Responsibilities
- Action in an emergency
- The respiratory system
- Disorders of circulation
- Seizures
- Minor burns and scalds
- Specialised burn injuries
- Foreign objects
- Eye injuries
- Poisoning
- Anaphylaxis
- Major illnesses
You will then move on to the classroom, where you will cover the following topics which will be approximately 12 hours over two days and includes the assessment:
- Primary survey
- Secondary assessment
- Resuscitation and AED (Automated External Defibrillation)
- Disorders of respiration (choking)
- Wounds and bleeding
- Bones, joints, and muscle injuries
- Head and spinal injuries
- Chest and abdominal injuries
