PAEDIATRIC FIRST AID BLENDED

This blended course can be delivered through 6 hours of e-learning and then 6 hours Face to face training at your premises. This Paediatric First Aid course has been developed for those who are working with children and infants. It will be of particular interest to teachers, child minders, crèche assistants, playgroup personnel and anyone else who has a responsibility for children and infants' welfare.

It is ideal for individuals who are responsible for children and infants, who wish to gain a Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid.

This two-day course satisfies the guidelines and criteria as laid down by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Ofsted. In order to obtain this qualification, you must complete 6 hours e-learning online and then attend for one day.

CERTIFICATION

Summative practical assessment is ongoing by the instructor, along with a written assessment. A Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid will be issued to the learner, subject to successful assessment.

This qualification is valid for 3 years.

What is the syllabus of the blended learning Paediatric First Aid?

The syllabus and course meet the requirements of the Department of Education, and learners will cover the following topics during their e-learning time. This will take approximately 6 hours:

What is paediatric first aid?
Legislation
Responsibilities
Action in an emergency
Seizures
Foreign objects
Bites and stings
Eye injuries
Chronic medical conditions and illnesses
Effects of heat and cold
Minor burns and scalds
Severe and specialised burns
Poisoning
Anaphylaxis

You will then move on to the classroom, where you will cover the following topics over approximately 6 hours and includes the assessment:

Primary survey
Secondary assessment
Resuscitation and defibrillation
Disorders of respiration (choking)
Wounds, bleeding, and shock
Bones, joints, and muscle injuries
Head and spinal injuries
